Let me start by expressing my heartfelt appreciation for the new Virgin America web! As a UX designer, I’m aware of the challenges faced with the current generation of consumer centric web (or mobile) products. And when the product has to do with Travel, it’s easy to imagine an overboost of information at each step and screen. The rethought Virgin America website as a clean & focussed web app is unique and worth copying!

Google has changed its logo yet again! And the change is so huge that I am surprised only a few people noticed it! Since the Search Giant opened the doors of the internet to everyone, it has changed its logo five times, counting the times we could manage to notice.

Thomas Cook, Britain’s oldest tour operator has gifted itself a fresh ‘Sunny Heart’ logo. The popular TC tagline “Don’t just book it Thomas Cook it” is no more. It’s been replaced by a shorter phrase “Let’s go”. This is the first time in Thomas Cook’s 172-year history that all its companies have a unifying identity.

Either there is design, or chaos. As humans we don’t like chaos, unless bringing form and design out of chaos is your task. Yet we see so many startups putting design in the “do it later when we can afford it!” list. So can your startup afford to lose and/or piss off users? Or better, can your startup afford to confuse users?
