Priya Kuriyan sketches an Ode to Awesome Delhi

Delhi Mom

“For someone who likes watching people, Delhi is like a gold mine,” writes Priya Kuriyan, an illustrator in New Delhi. “A lot of these characters can seem abrasive at first, but there’s also something endearing about them.”

Priya Kuriyan has started immortalizing these endearing Delhi characters through her illustrations. Be it a father accompanying his daughter and her science project to school or a hipster wearing boxer shorts or a mom waiting for her second child outside a school while on her mobile phone – if they catch Priya Kuriyan’s eye, in her sketches they go. As all the sketches are reproduced from her memory (she is shy sketching around people), some features are exaggerated. That’s only because they are the first thing about these people that she noticed.

Here are some of the awesome illustrations she has sketched.
