Jam your Social Media Addiction by the Focus Collection
When I entered my office today a lot was buzzing around! Someone was tweeting, another one liking posts on Facebook and I had just taken a selfie, ready to be posted on Instagram. We all are Social Media freaks here and how!
Well, these are the perks of being involved in a design and communication firm.
Nonetheless, while going through the net, the Social Media Freak that I am, I came across this new apparel collection by Japanese conceptual fashion designer Kunihiko Morinaga. The collection is termed FOCUS, an edge cutting idea in the field of apparel designs as well as the world of social media addiction. People now-a-days are filled with ‘OMG! let’s instagram it’ or ‘Did you like my Facebook status?’; Focus Collection is an attempt by the designer, Morinaga, to actually kill this addiction that our world is facing.
The Focus collection is made of a fabric with fibers that shut down nearby cell-phone frequencies giving the person a social media free world where talking isn’t commenting over one’s status or photo on a social site but actually having a conversation on phone and in person. This idea of the designer is apt and justified to many extends.
As quoted by Masashi Kawamura, one of the design collaborators at Fast Co. Design, “The design concept was ‘protection gear in the future urban landscape’.” The design uses fabrication techniques which are used in outdoor gear, but in this case, it protects people from information and social media that eats up the average time an individual spends on them, as quoted.
This design is nothing very extraordinary in terms of looks but it gives people time to live a normal and easy going life away from too much of web socializing. A simple jacket with metallic finish inside is something this collection flaunts its style through.
Though this idea seems appealing to me and I think to many others as well, it is still a conceptual line. The team of designers informed that the price of this collection is still not calculated as the whole matter depends on the production status. Although the team of collaborators (which includes media companies PARTY and AID-DCC, and Mondelez, the ad agency behind Trident Gum) will continue working and exploring more about the functioning of Focus!
I hope this range flies out soon and hit the world with a bang because it’s time to flaunt some Jamming Addiction!
