Barisieur – an alarm clock that serves you coffee!

Barisieur - an alarm clock that serves you coffee!

Everyday, half the people in the world are woken up by the same irritating sound, blaring from their tabletops. Half of those, torn between the desire to throw the alarm clock out the window and hitting the snooze button, do the latter and go right back to sleep.

Alarm-clocks could easily be the most hated things on the planet! Painful as it may be to wake up to one, the Barisieur is here to dull that pain. Barisieur, wakes you up with a fresh cup of coffee, so that’s the last thing you’ll ever need to worry about as you scramble groggily around your house for one.

Engineered by London-based industrial designer Josh Renouf, the base of the Barisieur is just an average alarm-clock. Its what on top of it, that makes Barisieur amazing. Here’s how it works according to PSFK – “The sleek device has stainless steel ball bearings inside a bespoke hand blown glass beaker that boils water through induction heating. The boiling water is pushed out of the beaker through a slim glass tube and is poured over the ground coffee which is placed in a sustainable stainless steel coffee filter. The coffee then drips through the filter and into a glass cup. In the middle of the tray is a small glass container that holds the milk or cream.

Goodbye to feeling groggy in the mornings!

So, Barisieur eases you into a state of awakeness in the morning with the gentle sounds of metal clinking against glass and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. That’s much better than forcibly waking up to the loud sounds of your alarm clock right? Also, the alarm clock encourages users to make a ritual out of actually “preparing” the alarm clock before they go to sleep. Renouf hopes this ritual becomes a habit, that signals to the body and mind that its time to unwind and relax.

Renouf is now in the process of developing the Barisieur for commercial use. The estimated retail price is between $250 to $420.
